INCENTIVE: Poe needs the resistance to come out as the ultimate winner of this fight against the First Order. He's well aware they've won a battle -- a big battle -- but he's not under any illusions that even that much will have won them the war. Really, he's willing to risk life and limb for the resistance, to make sure that some sliver of hope can win out, that people have a chance to live in the freedom and relative peace that his parents fought for and he's fighting for. He's more than willing to relocate and spend some time in a strange place if it means helping his friends and colleagues get through this. The way he figures it, the galaxy needs to hold onto that hope, and the First Order will crush that entirely, if they were to win. He grew up with his parents stories of the Empire and what life was like, and how important hope and freedom were, so it's the only thing that really matters to him is making sure that the galaxy doesn't go straight back to that situation.

FIT: There really hasn't been a great deal of free time in Poe Dameron's life. Straight from serving in the New Republic's Navy to being a pilot for the Resistance. Well, he spends more time in his X-wing or with his droid than with anyone else. That said, he has no actual hang ups with any sort of intimacy. He gets along well with people, has no aversion to physical contact or affection. In fact, finding himself with free time, why not? Really, why not. He's social and enjoys being around people, forms bonds easily and quickly, understands the need and appeal of being with others.

And he's quite up on consent; hell he's basically a freedom fighter, and isn't the type who'd be interested in coercion of any sort. Matter of fact, he was quite recently tortured for information, so he may be even more sensitive to the whole freedom to have one's own thoughts and desires and freewill of others thing. Poe's generally a good guy who means well, who wants to do what's right.

Poe will be bringing his little droid BB-8 with him, because well, he'd miss the little guy otherwise. BB-8 is a small astromech droid who normally helps Poe with flying, but is also a good companion and helpful to have around for a variety of other reasons. Also it's adorable.

He also will likely come with a blaster since well, he's used to having one on him and it's become normal.
